Recon Teak QC
Jacaranda, Inc.’s latest project incorporates Recon Teak QC. The Center for Plastic Surgery added our Recon Teak veneer to their reception desk, ceiling features, built-ins, and more. The finished result is a space that is light and airy with an unexpected warmth emanating from the natural wood accents. The sophistication of the wood grain creates a modern atmosphere with a sleekly polished edge.
Teak comes from the teak tree, which is also called Tectona grandis. Native to southern and southeast Asia, this regal tree can live for a century or more, reaching heights of 150 feet. It has a smooth grain and texture with a rich golden color. The natural beauty of the teak tree and its durable wood have made it popular in many applications, but it is not necessarily easy to come by or inexpensive. At Jacaranda, we use recon teak to create our fine teak veneer. Here’s what you need to know about that process.
Teak Recon Veneer
Recon veneers are made using real wood. We use carefully chosen logs, which are then cut into thin sheets, bleached, and dyed. The sheets are bonded together to create a block of wood, which is then sliced again into sheets of veneer.
The final grain pattern is the product of carefully chosen dyes and specific slicing techniques. Our Recon Teak QC is quarter cut. This means it’s cut into four quarters at a radial angle and then sliced into thin layers to create veneer. Quarter-cut veneer has a smooth pattern with long, straight grain lines.
Benefits of Recon Veneer
By using recon teak, we’re able to provide you with high-quality real wood veneers at reasonable prices. Our veneer is strong and stable with a secure backing that can be installed on just about any surface as well as ceilings, columns, and corners. We can even eliminate defects common in natural wood, including knots, discolorations, and undesirable grain irregularities by using recon veneers. Even better, our products are sustainable and eco-friendly, with no VOCs and no added formaldehyde.
Using recon veneer is also easier on timber resources. When crafting recon veneer, we focus on using fast-growing species in plentiful supply. This means that we can effectively recreate rare, exotic, and hard-to-acquire species at a lower financial and environmental cost. In other words, we don’t need teak trees to craft Recon Teak QC veneer, and that translates to less of a strain on natural resources and greater cost-effectiveness.
When you choose Recon Teak QC, your project will have a consistent color and grain pattern with unparalleled quality. You won’t need to cut or match individual sheets, and you will have less waste. Reconstituted wood has a higher density, allowing for smoother veneers and improved surface adherence.
