Environmental Stewardship and Wood Veneer Global Standards

Designers and architects make informed product decisions by providing information on their environmental impacts.  SanFoot is a leader in the architectural world and one of the most sustainable natural products in the industry.

SanFoot certification is through the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and Responsible Forestry SCS Global Services. We are members of the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable practices are a cornerstone of our environmental commitment, and we carefully consider how and where we obtain trees based on the quality of veneer we can obtain, the potential ecological effects, and the maximum yield.

We are committed to responsible forest management that balances the social, ecologic, and economic needs of forests and their inhabitants to ensure health, biodiversity, and long-term stability and sustainability. We use a patented process to get three times as much veneer from each log we cut.

Our processes are VOC-compliant with low VOC emissions to improve indoor air quality. We are MAS Certified Green ®, meaning SanFoot has passed rigorous testing and is determined to emit low-VOC materials. MAS Certified Green ® materials can help architects, manufacturers, builders, and others ensure their products have minimal emissions and meet strict green building requirements. The MAS Certified Green ® Program is accredited and meets the standards of LEED and others.

We’re also proud to be part of the U.S. Green Building Council. The USGBC’s mission is to create buildings that are harmonious with people, communities, and the environment. Its goals include increasing building efficiency, generating jobs, enhancing sustainability, and improving overall well-being.

A Commitment to Safety

Jacaranda is committed not only to sustainability and ecologically responsible practices but also to safety. SanFoot veneers have a Class A fire rating, having completed extensive testing for flame spread and smoke development and complying with all fire safety protocols in various environmental conditions. Our veneer is tested per ASTM-84 standards. This measures the burning characteristics of a specific material, such as smoke index and flame spread. The NFPA gives a material classification of A, B, or C, depending on how the surface burns when tested in a fire tunnel. To achieve a Class A rating, the flame spread must be 25 or less. Anything between 26 and 75 is considered a Class B, while anything between 76 and 200 is Class C.

We offer a vast array of veneer options in more than 100 species and numerous cuts, stains, dyes, colors, and styles. Contact our team today to learn more about your options for sustainable wood veneers in your corporate or residential space or to schedule an appointment with our team.
